It is lightweight, weighing just 2.12 pounds and needs two 9 Volt alkaline batteries for operation. V-Flex Digital Technology and Noise Cancellation are two innovative features included in this metal detector. It works at a frequency of 6.8 kHz.  Bounty Hunter Pioneer 505 comes with five modes of operations including All-Metal, Discrimination, Notch and others. It is powered by the VLF (Single Frequency) detection technology. With adjustable sensitivity, LCD display, Programmable Target ID, Iron Mask Discrimination, Depth Indicator and Battery Indicator, this metal detector stands out among its competitors in terms of features. An important feature included here is the Three-tone target identification. When metals like iron and nickel are detected, low tone is produced. Zinc and large gold induce medium tone. Identification of silver and copper generates high tone.  The coil used in Bounty Hunter Pioneer 505 is open round and measures 8 inches. As the coil is waterproof, the metal detector can identify coins up to a depth of 9 inches and large objects up to a depth of 4 feet.
