  • Condition: Overall condition is vintage/good; it's clear it was actually used and hung as a celebration of communist beliefs. There is minor crackling of the decal / design at the fold lines, some wear to and pilling of the braiding, and one 1/4 inch unraveling of the cord. (See photo 12). Though generally clean and shiny, there are a few light 1/4" spots on the back and three very small holes (pinhead size) that appear to be moth holes. The moth holes make me think the fabric is silk, but it could be satin-finished polyester. No rips or tears, but looks vintage/used. Study photos well - you'll receive this exact banner.

    Description

This is an authentic, vintage communist propaganda wall banner / pennant which I acquired in Russia in 1993 shortly after the dissolution of the USSR. I bought it from a young man who'd recently separated from the recently-defunct soviet military. He was selling his uniforms and propoganda items to American tourists in order to start up a small business. I happily contributed, pleased to fund his journey into free enterprise!  I estimate the banner to have been made in the1980s.
The fabric is a rich red satin-finished polyester or silk with vibrant, worn gold twist/braid tassels.  Measures 12" wide x 18" long (which includes 3" tassel).
    Featured on the banner:
    Profile bust of Lenin
Soaring depiction of soviet collective labor with nods to 4
branches of Soviet Economics - agriculture, space research, railway, and construction.
    Quote from Lenin
, in Russian,  "Мы придем к победе коммунистического труда" В.I. Ленин and "Коллектив коммунистического труда. " Translated: "We shall come to the Victory of Communist Labor" & "V.I. Lenin and Collective of Communist Labor."
